How pickup works
When it comes to picking up your RV or motorhome, Chesapeake Chariots ensures a seamless process. Depending on the size and model of your vehicle, we use specialized RV-transport flatbeds or experienced drive-away services. If your RV is parked at a storage lot, our team will coordinate directly with the facility to arrange pickup. Please note that vehicle height and length are crucial, as most states require a max clearance of 13'6”. If you’re not on-site, we’ll handle all the logistics with the RV park or storage facility to ensure a smooth transition.
What drives donation value
The value of your RV or motorhome donation is influenced by several critical factors. The condition of house systems such as the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning plays a significant role, often outweighing drivetrain concerns. For example, signs of water damage can substantially decrease your vehicle’s value. Recent maintenance records enhance appeal, especially if they highlight essential repairs or updates. Seasonal factors also come into play; donations made in spring are usually valued higher due to auction trends. For classic models, an appraisal (IRS Form 8283 Section B) from a qualified appraiser is often necessary to support valuation for tax deductions.

Maryland specifics
In Maryland, RVs and motorhomes are subject to specific DMV regulations and titling requirements. Donors should ensure that the vehicle title is clear and provides accurate information. If the vehicle is being sold or transferred to a new owner, a bill of sale may also be necessary. Always check with the Maryland DMV for the most current regulations pertaining to vehicle donations to ensure compliance with state laws.
